From idea to agricultural cooperative
I always knew that my purpose in life was to develop products that would help people one way or another. And from the beginning, a sea buckthorn plantation seemed to be a great idea. As children, my brother and I grew up in knowing about the amazing properties of this fruit, and it was truly incredible to us that a small berry can have such big benefits for our health!
Thus both of us partnered together to develop a sea buckthorn plantation, doing what we love, spreading the message of good health and surrounded by the people that we care about the most. What more could you want? For me, this is the secret of a happy life, doing what I love, fulfilling my purpose with the people that I love, and living comfortably from it.
Bio Cătina Agicultural Cooperative is a natural next step from the first project, the farm. Through the cooperative we can help farmers to get fair prices for their work and to sell all their anual production. We advise them to access European funds available to farmers so that both the cooperative and our farmers can constantly develop. The model itself has been around for sometime in Romania; we were one of the few to adapt it to the new market realities. It is a viable model of organizing when there are several stakeholders with common interests, an idea very much like the Romanian proverb: where there are many, power grows.
I am proud of what I have achieved with my family, but I would not have succeeded without the team that formed around the cooperative. We have big plans to conquer the world with this small and valuable fruit, an underused and truly amazing superfood. Our desire is to put Romania on the world map, in the heart of Europe, with these organic products made from Sea Buckthorn.
